May 9th, 2012 - Update from the Crowes
- Currently in Australia.

Dear Praying Friends.
I am afraid I don't have any terribly exciting news but nevertheless we have much cause to Thank the Lord for His goodness and grace and continued provision of all of our needs.

  • This week is the ninth week of my antibiotic treatment. I am extremely thankful that I haven't had any nasty reactions from the antibiotics as yet. It looks like I still have another 5 weeks of treatment though as the doctor recommended we go for another 5 weeks of penicillin intramuscular injections.
  • I am still walking and exercising everyday, it is certainly a great blessing to be able to walk along the beautiful beaches here in Mornington Peninsula and enjoy God's glorious creation. We are planning to leave the peninsula on the 28th of this month and head over to Mt Gambier for a week or so before heading back to Albury for a couple of weeks and then to Sydney for our flight back to PNG.
  • I would very much appreciate your praying for Sister Julie as it looks like it is her turn for a bout of ill health.
  • Julie has been a tower of strength over the years but this last 12 months she has really suffered from the ill effects of "we don't know what. She has an appointment on the 24th of May with a specialist to try and work out what is causing all the pain in her lower legs and feet. She is generally feeling unwell and very tired, we'd appreciate you all praying that we might get some answers from this doctor later this month.
  • Her blood tests for Lyme disease came back negative, but that doesn't completely rule out the possibility of it still being a Lyme infection.
  • Anyway, that's about the news for now.

I have had regular contact with the Churches in PNG and all is well, besides all the normal ups and downs.

It is election year in PNG which always puts a lot of pressure on the believers as they are continually tempted to get involved in the corrupt campaigning parties and so on.
There is always the stress of tribal conflicts as well as the candidates jostle for position in all of the village areas.

  • It is quite likely we will land back in PNG in the midst of all the election turmoil so we'd appreciate your praying for us about all that as well.
  • Both Lydia and Elisabeth are at cross roads of sorts this year as they both finished school before we left PNG.
  • They also would appreciate your prayer as to how the Lord is leading them in their respective futures.

Whilst we have had this quiet time here in Mornington Peninsula:

  • I have had some profitable time to work on a dozen or so new gospel tracts and also
  • a book I am putting together about "Some of the Pitfalls of Cross-cultural Ministry"

Thank you for being our faithful prayer partners, we very much appreciate your fellowship in the gospel.

Update from the Crowes March 27th, 2012.

Apologies for delay in getting this on here - just returned from a short break- Geoff Moore- Admin

Greetings & Salutations from Sunny (and cloudy) Mornington Peninsula. (What else would you expect from Melbourne) We trust you all are well and rejoicing in the goodness of God.

  • I thought I should send out a short note to thank you all for your prayer and encouragement and to let you all know how we are progressing with the Lyme Treatment.
  • (It is quite amazing just how much information has been in and on the mainstream media these last few weeks about Lyme disease),
  • It seems, despite the Australian Government's being in denial, Lyme disease is a very real threat to unassuming Australians,
  • I would encourage you if you have the time to look at the video at the link I forwarded to you with this Email.(*See below - Geoff)
  • Anyway, concerning my situation, I am three weeks into my treatment, both antibiotic & probiotic, and feeling quite a bit better (For now at least).
  • I think that may have somewhat to do with the fact that the stress levels are way down, and I am also caffeine, dairy, sugar & wheat free (What a challenge!)
  • My energy levels have picked up noticeably, and I feel just generally more alive.
  • I am taking 8 different supplements (In tablet form) Also Green Barley / Enliven (in powder form) and the Himalayan Rock Salt & Vitamin C protocol also.I am walking a few kilometres and getting plenty of fresh air every day which also helps.
  • So far I have felt no real side effects from the antibiotics, but as yet I'm not even half way into them. So far I have had 3 intramuscular shots of penicilin, and on Friday just gone (with the 3rd shot of Penicilin) I started taking Monocyclin orally. I doubled the dose of Monocyclin yesterday (Monday) and in another 3 days I triple the dose.
  • Two weeks into the daily monocyclin (at triple dose) I start taking a third even more powerful antibiotic (Called Flagyl). So as you can see, I'm not getting too excited too soon.
  • I am fully expecting before long to go into a valley as the Lyme bacteria dies off and the toxins start to try to leave the body.

*Channel Seven Sunday programme Presentation re Lyme Disease.

  • We haven't heard much from PNG as the Mobile Phone network in the Kagu area is still down.
  • We would appreciate your continuing to pray for the Ritschard Family and Bro Nende as they shoulder the responsibilities for all the ministries in and around Kagu.
  • I have been in touch with the Land Owners and Church Leaders in Yonki and they assure me they have worked through all the details of making sure that everybody involved understands how the money will be divided when the time comes to finalise the agreement.
  • It is our intention, Lord willing to return to PNG sometime in June, purchase the land and to begin the work of preparation for the New Bible School scheduled to start classes (If the Lord Tarries) in February 2013.
  • We very much appreciate your praying for us to get through and over this treatment (and illness) that we can back to PNG and take up here we left off.
  • We will keep you informed of our progress in the days ahead.

Yours for the Lord's Work in PNG,

Bro Dave Crowe.

Verse of the Day

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
James 3:17-18
